Here is a classic trilobite fossil. This is a wonderful Elrathia kingi from the Cambrian of Utah. This specimen was found by Steve Hess in 2005. Although this species is one of the most prolific trilobites, this specimen is a very fine example. The trilobite is complete and almost perfectly articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The trilobite has been well prepared with an air abrasive machine to preserve the fine detail. The black bug contrasts beautifully with the light grey matrix. The trilobite is well positioned on the natural slab of shale. This is a very displayable example of Elrathia kingi.
