Here is a classic US trilobite. This is a large Huntoniatonia (Huntonia) huntonensis from the Haragan Formation of Oklahoma. This trilobite was prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab this year. This 3-dimensional bug is wonderfully outstretched and exhibits very fine detail. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached, which is quite unusual. The inflated, protruding eyes are easily seen, but the individual lenses of the compound eyes are not seen. The long, wide genal spines are beautifully displayed, and there are two brachiopods attached to the back of the trilobite!. The arthropod has excellent color and contrast and is wonderfully centered on the large block of marlstone. This is a large (almost FOUR inches long!), affordable specimen of this highly sought-after trilobite from Oklahoma.
