This is a very spiny US trilobite. It is a large Dicranurus hamatus elegantus from the Devonian of Oklahoma. This specimen was recently acquired from Bob Carroll in 2009 (see photo of Bob's signature on the bottom of the specimen). This type of trilobite has extremely long genal spines and occipital ''Ram's Horns'' spines, which have been meticulously prepared in a free-standing manner on this specimen. The bug is quite inflated and exhibits wonderful detail. The long, flowing pleural spines are beautifully showcased, and even the tiny tail of the trilobite is intact. The caramel-colored trilobite contrasts strikingly with the light-colored matrix plate. The bug is very well showcased on the sculpted block of limestone. This is a very distinct example of one of the most sought-after trilobites from Oklahoma.
