It is a fine Metacanthina issoumourensis from the Devonian of Morocco. This distinct trilobite has been meticulously prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado, as are all of our Moroccan trilobites. The 3-dimensional bug is wonderfully articulated and exhibits outstanding detail. The individual lenses of the large, crescent-shaped, compound eyes are very easily seen. The entire head and large genal spines have been prepared in a free standing manner (hard to see in photo). The dark, chocolate-brown trilobite contrasts beautifully with the light-brown matrix. The fossil is almost perfectly centered on the large, sculpted block of limestone. This is one of the better quality specimens of Metacanthina issoumourensis that we have ever prepared. This fossil was collected legally, and is also being sold legally.
