This is an extremely rare trilobite double. It is a fabulous Crassiproetus crassimarginatus and Phacops rana norwoodensis from Iowa. This specimen came directly from a major fossil collector, unprepared, and we prepared it in-house. The Crassiproetus is beautifully outstretched, while the Phacops is complete and enrolled. The trilobites have excellent detail preserved - even the compound eye facets are easily seen. The bugs have a beautiful brown exoskeletons that contrast strikingly with the sculpted limestone block. These are two unusual species of trilobites that are extremely hard to find preserved together.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
