This is a beautiful DOUBLE Ceraurus pleurexanthemus plate from the famous Walcott-Rust Quarry (WRQ) near Trenton Falls, New York. This type is one of the original trilobites that Charles Walcott and James Hall made famous a century ago! Both specimens on the plate are complete, with both free cheeks intact. The trilobites have great detail preserved, showcasing the pustulated, thick shell exoskeletons beautifully. The bugs are very well articulated and very well displayed on the squared limestone plate - fully natural, no compositing! Anyone who knows anything about the history of US trilobites knows how important a piece like this is. This is a very collectible double example of classic Ceraurus pleurexanthemus trilobites from New York State.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
