This is a beautifully-prepared trilobite. It is a specatular Coltraneia oufatenensis from the Devonian of Morocco. This specimen was meticulously prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado, as are all of our Moroccan trilobites. This is a very difficult trilobite to obtain in good condition - and this one is excellent! One glance will tell you what this trilobite is famous for - the huge compound eyes that are elevated above the glabella. This trilobite must have been able to see almost 360 degrees! Both of the large eyes display individual lenses in very fine fashion. And every one of the long, sharp pygidial spines have been prepared in a free-standing manner! The trilobite is also very 3-D and extremely inflated. This is a fabulous, professionally-prepared example of one of the most sought-after trilobites from Morocco.
