This is an excellent specimen of Bolaspidella from the Wheeler Formation ''Red Beds'' of Utah. This type of trilobite has a semicircular cephalon with a very prominent upturned convex border and a small spine on the occipital ring. This trilobite is nicely outstretched and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The short, flaring genal spines are beautifully displayed, and the small eyes are easily seen. The reddish-brown bug contrasts nicely with the pinkish-tan matrix. The trilobite is well showcased on the large, natural-edged plate of shale. This is a great example of Bolaspidella from the Middle Cambrian of Utah.
