Here is an extremely rare US trilobite. It is an enrolled Cheirurus from the Silurian of Illinois. This specimen was recently acquired from the famous Books Collection. This trilobite is from the same formation that produces the common Sthenarocalymene celebra trilobites, and types other than Sthenarocalymene are almost never found. This specimen is well preserved in an enrolled position. The bug exhibits fine detail and is extremely inflated and nicely articulated. The free cheeks are present and easily seen. The trilobite displays well on the natural dolomitic base. This is one of only a handful of Cheirurus ever found at this locality.
