Here is a classic US trilobite. This is Eldredgeops rana rana from the Middle Devonian of New York. This trilobite is wonderfully prone, very 3-dimensional, and exhibits great detail. The individual lenses of the compound eyes are easily seen, and the many pustules on the glabella are quite evident. The thick-shelled exoskeleton is totally intact - each and every pleuron tip is present. The black fossil contrasts nicely with the grey matrix. The trilobite is well showcased on the large plate of shale that also contains a cephalon and a brachiopod. This is a very nice example of a complete Eldredgeops rana rana from New York State.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
