This is a great example of an unusual US trilobite. It is a large Anataphrus vigilans from Iowa. This specimen was recently acquired from the DeRosear Collection. This enrolled trilobite is very 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. The natural eyes are easily seen protruding above the smooth carapace. The caramel-colored exoskeleton of the trilobite is fully natural. And, best of all, there is NO RESTORATION to this specimen. This is a large, fabulous, unrestored example of Anataphrus vigilans from Iowa.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
