This is a beautiful enrolled trilobite. It is a very large Eldredgeops rana crassituberculata from the Silica Shale of Ohio. This tightly enrolled specimen was beautifully prepared, free of matrix, in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This complete trilobite is extremely inflated and exhibits absolutely no crushing or deformation whatsoever. The detail of the thick exoskeleton is excellent, and the compound faceted eyes are totally intact. The chocolate-brown coloration both striking and fully natural, with coll, natural spots of bright golden pyrite. This is a nearly perfect example of an enrolled Eldredgeops rana crassi from this classic US locality.
