Here is a fabulous Silurian trilobite. This is Calymene breviceps from the Waldron Shale of Indiana. The quarry where this specimen was found is now filled with water and closed to collecting. This trilobite is very 3-dimensional and almost perfectly prone. The free cheeks are present and tight, which is quite unusual. The chocolate brown trilobite contrasts wonderfully with the light grey matrix. The ancient arthropod is well showcased on the large, natural plate of shale that contains other trilobite fragments. This is a beautiful specimen of Calymene breviceps from this closed location.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
