This is an extremely nice spiny trilobite. It is a complete Dorypyge swasii from the ''Elrathia Beds'' of Millard County, Utah. This specimen was found in 1996 and just now microscopically prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This trilobite is outstretched and very well articulated. The genal spines are quite evident, the thoracic pleurae terminate in short spines, and the robust pygidial spines are nicely displayed. The trilobite has a long occipital spine and a row of axial spines that have been prepared in a free-standing manner. The distinct trilobite exhibits very fine detail and has superb color and contrast. The bug is beautifully showcased on the large block of dense shale. This is a professionally prepared example of this rare spiny trilobite from Utah.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
