Here is a fabulous specimen of Asaphus (Neoasaphus) punctatus from the Ordovician of Russia. This large trilobite is extremely well articulated and is almost perfectly prone. The bug is quite inflated and very symmetrical in appearance. Note the large, stalked eyes - a defining feature of this species. The rich, caramel-brown color of the trilobite contrasts wonderfully with the white-tan matrix. The fossil is almost perfectly centered on the sculpted limestone block. This is a beautiful example of this classic stalk-eyed trilobite from Russia.
