Here is a large example of Modocia typicalis from the Middle Cambrian of Utah. This specimen is from a "new" site, as can be seen by the unusual orangish coloration of the trilobite and the dark matrix. This complete bug is nicely articulated and exhibits fine detail. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The small, crescent-shaped eyes are easily seen and the sweeping genal spines are quite evident. The pleurons terminate in spines that become progressively longer as they near the pygidium. The orangish color of the fossil contrasts nicely with the gray matrix. The bug is well positioned on the semi-squared plate of shale. This is a very pretty specimen of Modocia typicalis from a new collecting location.
