This is a very nice plate of fossils. It is a pair of true Ceraurus pleurexanthemus from the famous Walcott-Rust Quarry near Trenton Falls, New York. This type is one of the original trilobites that Charles D. Walcott and James Hall made famous over a century ago! These specimens are complete, with both free cheeks and eyes intact. The trilobites have very good detail preserved, showcasing the thick shell exoskeleton beautifully.(hard to see in photo) Anyone who knows anything about the history of US trilobites knows how important trilobites from this locality are - they are a piece of history. This is a very fine double example of classic Ceraurus pleurexanthemus trilobites from New York State.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
