This is a very rare Lower Cambrian trilobite. It is a Mesonacis eagerensis from British Columbia, Canada. This type of trilobite is very unusual - one can easily see by the non-bulbous glabella, long, thin thorax, and truncated pleurons that it is not a common Olenellus. In fact, it has many of the same characteristics of the classic trilobite, Mesonacis vermontanus. Although this specimen does not have the FIVE tailspines preserved, it is a very complete example. The bug has good color and contrast and is wonderfully showcased on a large plate of dense shale. This is a very nice example of this highly sought-after Lower Cambrian trilobite.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
