This is a fabulous Lower Cambrian trilobite. It is a striking Olenellus chiefensis from the Pioche Formation of Nevada. This specimen was recently acquired from the famous DeRosear Collection, and you can easily see why. The trilobite is complete including the long telson (tailspine). The detail of this trilobite is wonderful - even the long genal and pleural spines are wonderfully showcased. The bug is nicely inflated and well centered on the large, squared plate. The fabulous color and contrast makes this bug stand out beautifully against the surrounding matrix. And, best of all, this is a split pair - both the part and counterpart (not pictured) are offered together. This is the most displayable Olenellus chiefensis trilobite we have ever had.
