This is one big-eyed bug! It is a complete Coltraneia oufatenensis from the Devonian of Morocco. This trilobite was prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This is a very difficult trilobite to obtain in good condition - and this one is excellent! One glance will tell you what this trilobite is famous for - the huge compound eyes that are elevated above the glabella. This trilobite must have been able to see almost 360 degrees! Both of the large eyes preserves the individual lenses in fabulous fashion! The trilobite is very 3-D and extremely inflated, with the head prepared free-standing. This wonderfully articulated specimen has striking, dark brown color and contrasts beautifully with the sculpted grey matrix. This is a Top Quality example of one of the most sought-after non-spiny trilobites from Morocco.
