Here is a very displayable specimen of Asaphus (Neoasaphus) kowalewskii from the Middle Ordovician of Russia. These stalk-eyed Asaphid trilobites have become one of the mainstays of every serious fossil collection. There are two complete examples of this trilobite on the piece. One of the trilobites is quite prone - the other trilobite is curled. Both bugs are extremely 3-dimensional and exhibit wonderful detail. Three of the long-stalked eyes have been prepared in a free-standing manner and are beautifully displayed. The caramel-brown color of the fossils contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. The trilobites are well showcased on the large, sculpted block of limestone. This is a great double example of these spectacular trilobites.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
