This is a pair of classic US trilobites. These are Dalmanites limulurus from the Silurian of New York. The trilobites are almost perfectly prone and nicely articulated. The bug on the right is well inflated and exhibits fine detail - the compound eyes protrude well above the sleek carapace of the trilobite. The trilobite on the left is upside-down (a counterpart). The broad genal spines and the pointed caudal spineS are clearly defined on both specimens. The fossils have excellent color and contrast and are well presented on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a striking double example of this aesthetic trilobite from the Rochester Shale.
