Here is a fabulous US trilobite. This is large Calymene breviceps from the Waldron Shale of Indiana. The quarry where this specimen was found is now filled with water. This trilobite is very 3-dimensional and almost perfectly prone. The free cheeks are present and tightly attached, which is quite unusual. The chocolate brown trilobite contrasts wonderfully with the light gray matrix. The ancient arthropod is well centered on the large, squared plate of shale that also contains a tiny gastropod. This is a top quality specimen of Calymene breviceps from this classic location.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
