This is a classic US trilobite. It is a true Ceraurus pleurexanthemus from the famous Walcott-Rust Quarry near Trenton Falls, New York. This is one of the original trilobites that Charles Walcott and James Hall made famous a century ago! This specimen is complete, with both free cheeks and both tailspines intact. The trilobite has fine detail preserved, showcasing the pustulated, thick shell exoskeleton beautifully. The bug is extremely inflated and is well showcased on the limestone plate that also has an unprepared Ceraurus in the lower left corner. Anyone who knows anything about the history of US trilobites knows how important a trilobite from this locality is - it is a piece of history. It is a fine example of a classic Ceraurus pleurexanthemus trilobite from New York State
