This is a very collectible fossil association. It is a large true Ceraurus pleurexanthemus from the famous Walcott-Rust Quarry (WRQ) near Trenton Falls, New York. This type is one of the original trilobites that Charles Walcott and James Hall made famous a century ago! This specimen is complete, with both free cheeks and eyes intact. The trilobite has nice detail preserved, showcasing the pustulated, thick shell exoskeleton beautifully. The bug is very well articulated and is very well displayed on the squared limestone plate that also has a beautiful Cincinnaticrinus varibrachialus crinoid preserved. Anyone who knows anything about the history of US trilobites knows how important a trilobite from this locality is - it is a piece of history. This is a beautiful example of a classic Ceraurus pleurexanthemus trilobite and rare crinoid from New York State.
