As everyone knows, complete Carboniferous trilobites are quite rare and highly collectible. This is an excellent double specimen of Ameropiltonia lauradanae from the Mississippian of Missouri. The trilobite at the top of the plate is preserved in a ventral position. This is not an impression, but the actual carapace preserved in bottom view. The trilobite at the bottom of the slab is a dorsal/side view and exhibits the fine granulation of the exoskeleton in wonderful fashion. Both trilobites are complete and nicely articulated. All of the free cheeks are intact, which is quite unusual. The brown color of the trilobites contrasts beautifully with the grey matrix. This is a very collectible plate of Mississippian trilobites prepared in both ventral and dorsal views.
