Here is a very fine specimen of Paralejurus rehamnanus from the Devonian of Morocco. This type of Paralejurus differs from the more common type by having short genal spines and a somewhat truncated cephalon. This wonderfully articulated trilobite is very inflated and well preserved in the prone position. Both free cheeks are intact, and the fine detail of the bug is easily seen. The genal spines are quite evident, and the pointed pleurons are clearly defined. The black color of the trilobite contrasts beautifully with the light-colored matrix. But the unusual feature of this trilobite is the distinct bite mark on the right side of the trilobite! Three entire pleurons were lunch for some unknown predator. This is a textbook example of a Paralejurus with predatory damage.
