This is a beautiful US trilobite. It is a true Ceraurus pleurexanthemus from the famous Walcott-Rust Quarry near Trenton Falls, New York. This type is one of the original trilobites that Charles Walcott and James Hall made famous a century ago! This specimen is complete, with both free cheeks intact. The trilobite has great detail preserved, showcasing the thick shell exoskeleton beautifully - even the stalked eyes are natural! The plate also has two different types of bryozoans preserved. Anyone who knows anything about the history of US trilobites knows how important a trilobite from this locality is - it is a piece of history. This is a very collectible example of a complete Ceraurus pleurexanthemus trilobite from New York State.
