This is a very striking trilobite! It is a large Cheirurus ingricus (?) from the Ordovician of Russia. This wonderfully articulated bug is very well preserved and nicely inflated. The long, curving genal spines have been prepared in a free-standing manner and are wonderfully displayed. The extremely long pygidial spines are also prominently showcased. The fine detail of the thick-shelled exoskeleton is very easilt seen. The natural butterscotch coloration of the fossil contrasts beautifully with the light, buff-colored matrix. The distinct trilobite is almost perfectly centered on the sculpted plate of limestone that also contains a partial Illaenus trilobite. This is an extremely displayable specimen of this classic Ceraurus-like trilobite.
