This is a wonderful Ordovician trilobite. This is a complete Ceraurus pleurexanthemus from the famous Walcott-Rust Quarry (WRQ) near Trenton Falls, New York. Ceraurus pleurexanthemus is one of the original trilobites that Charles Walcott and James Hall made famous a century ago! This specimen is complete, with both free cheeks and eyes intact. The trilobite has great detail preserved, showcasing the pustulated, thick shell exoskeleton beautifully. The bug is very well articulated and is very well displayed on the squared limestone plate that also has a few bryozoans preserved. Anyone who knows anything about the history of US trilobites knows how important a trilobite from this locality is - it is a piece of history. This is a very nice single example of a classic Ceraurus pleurexanthemus trilobite from New York State.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
