Here is a fabulous U. S. trilobite. This is a pristine example of Amecephalus idahoense from the Middle Cambrian of Utah. This specimen is from a new locality in the Langston Formation (Spence Shale). This outstretched trilobite is fully complete and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached - one cheek and genal spine actually shows a bitten termination, distinct damage from predation. The bug exhibits terrific detail. The eyes of the trilobite are easily seen, and the glabella is clearly defined. The many, many individual thoracic segments are wonderfully displayed, and even the tiny pygidium is intact - which is extremely rare. The exoskeleton of the trilobite is covered with small pustules. The fossil has great color and contrast and is well showcased on a large, squared plate of shale. This is a top quality example of Amecephalus idahoense - probably the best specimen of this type we've ever seen.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
