Name:
Otarion diffractum Age: Silurian Formation: Budnany Limestone Location: Dlouha hora near Beroun, Czech Republic Size: Trilobite is 0.9 inches long! This specimen is not for sale Click here for similar specimens that are for sale
This is a very collectible fossil. It is a complete Otarion diffractum trilobite from Bohemia. This specimen was recently acquired from the Frank Crane Collection, and Frank acquired it DECADES ago. In fact, the original label is present and reads ''Nar. Museum v Praze. 194__'', showing that the label was printed in the 1940's. This fossil is extremely unusual because it is from the Budnany Limestone, not the much more common Lodenice shale. The trilobite itself is complete with both free cheeks intact, which is also extremely rare. The bug is large and very inflated and 3-D. This is one of those specimens that could only come from an old collection. It is a great specimen of a classic Czech trilobite with its OLD, original label intact.
