Here is an extremely rare European trilobite. This is a wonderful specimen of Calyptaulax sp. from the Upper Ordovician of Wales. The trilobite is outstretched and very nicely articulated. The fossil displays very fine detail - MUCH better than the photo shows! The bug has both compound eyes almost fully intact, and the great, natural bronze coloration is quite striking. The trilobite is well showcased on the small matrix plate. This is a very fine specimen of Calyptaulax - the best one we have ever seen from Wales.
