This is a strange spiny trilobite. It is a very unusual Drotops armatus from the Devonian of Morocco. This large trilobite was microscopically prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab, as are all of our Moroccan trilobites. This weird specimen may be a new type - the body is extremely wide and the spines are unusually thick and ''stumpy''. The spines are well displayed over the entire exoskeleton. The compound faceted eyes are well showcased. The trilobite is extremely inflated and 3-D and displays beautifully sitting up on the sculpted matrix plate. This is the only example of this unusual ''Spiny Phacops'' we have seen.
