Here is a nice spiny trilobite. This is Leonaspis sp. from the Devonian of Morocco. This species of Leonaspis has a long, rectangular body. This inflated specimen is nicely articulated and exhibits fine detail. Both free cheeks are present and the small, blunt spines on the borders of the cheeks are all intact. The EXTREMELY LONG genal spines are easily seen and the pleural spines and pygidial spines are clearly defined. The protruding eyes are nicely displayed. The black trilobite contrasts nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. It is well positioned on the rounded plate of limestone. This is a very good example of this type of Leonaspis.
