Here is a colorful Lower Cambrian trilobite. This is a fine specimen of Olenellus gilberti from Nevada. This trilobite is well articulated and exhibits extremely fine detail. The crescent-shaped eyes are easily seen and the long, sweeping pleural spines are clearly defined and beautifully displayed - even a portion of the telson (tailspine) is evident. The bug is well centered on the semi-rectangular plate of shale. This is a very aesthetic Olenellid trilobite from the Lower Cambrian of the Western United States.
