Here is a beautiful example of a rare trilobite. This is an unidentified Cheirurid trilobite from the Devonian of Morocco. This trilobite was prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This trilobite exhibits excellent detail. The eyes are very small and widely spaced, and the genal spines, pleural spines, and tailspines are all easily seen. There are also two distinct "Devil's Horns" spines protruding from the front of the cephalon. The trilobite is 3-dimensionally preserved and very nicely articulated, which is unusual for this type. The dark trilobite contrasts wonderfully with the light colored matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the sculpted plate of limestone. This is an outstanding specimen of this unusual Cheirurid trilobite.
