Here is a beautiful trilobite. This is a large Flexicalymene senaria from the Ordovician of Quebec. This exquisite specimen was recently acquired from the famous DeRosear Collection. This inflated bug is wonderfully articulated and exhibits outstanding detail. Even the small free cheeks are present, which is highly unusual. The minute, granulose texture of the cephalon is quite evident. This large example of Flexicalymene senaria is extremely wide for this type. The dark, thick-shelled exoskeleton of the bug contrasts nicely with the grey matrix block. The fossil is well centered on the rectangular plate. This is an outstanding example of Flexicalymene senaria from the DeRosear Collection.
