This is a very collectible trilobite. It is a beautiful Phacops africanus from Morocco. This type looks similar to the large Moroccan Drotops megalomanicus, but it is much rarer. This type is very smooth, instead of covered with pustules like the Drotops. It also has deep grooves in the tail. This specimen was prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS prep lab. The compound faceted eyes are very nice, and the detail is super. And at almost 5 inches, it is one big bug. It is extremely hard to find one of these this clean and 3-D. It is a great example of this rare Phacops trilobite.
