This is a classic US trilobite. It is a complete Bellacartwrightia (Neometacanthus) calliteles from the Penn-Dixie quarry near Buffalo, New York. This type of trilobite has large, compound eyes, long, thin genal spines, and many long pygidial spines - all of these features are clearly defined and beautifully displayed on this specimen. The inflated bug is wonderfully articulated and exhibits great detail. The trilobite has very nice color and contrast and is well presented on the sculpted block of shale that also contains a beautiful brachiopod. This is an excellent example of this highly sought-after trilobite from New York
