This is an extremely rare UK trilobite. It is a beautiful Dalmanites caudatus from the Silurian of England. Silurian trilobites from England are among the most sought-after trilobites for collectors, and this fine specimen was recently acquired from the famous John Page Collection. This trilobite has a semicircular cephalon with a pointed lip and protruding eyes. The fossil is quite inflated and beautifully outstretched. The detail of the trilobite is excellent - the long tailspine displays beautifully. At 3 1/4 inches long, it is larger than most Dalmanites from the Rochester Shale! And this is split pair specimen, with the counterpart intact and offered together here (not pictured). If you know anything about the history of ''Dudley'' trilobites, you will understand how rare and exciting this gem truly is!
