Here is a fabulous example of a classic U. S. trilobite. This is a large Eldredgeops milleri from the famous Silica Shale deposits of Ohio. This colorful trilobite was recently acquired from a major trilobite collection. The bug is almost perfectly prone and wonderfully articulated. The trilobite is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits fantastic detail. The large, compound eyes are practically flawless - the honeycomb of individual lenses is simply pristine. The pustulose glabella is nicely displayed, and the texture of the thick-shelled exoskeleton is superb - there is even a small band of pyrite laying across the middle of the body. This bug has natural, rich brown coloration that contrasts beautifully with the light grey matrix. And at almost two inches long, this critter is quite impressive. This is a collectible example of Eldredgeops right out of a major collection.
