Here is a very collectible trilobite. This is Calymene fayettensis from the Ordovician of Iowa. This specimen was recently acquired from the famous DeRosear Collection. This bug is tightly enrolled, nicely inflated, and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The thick, cream-colored exoskleton is quite beautiful and exhibits superb detail - the fine granulations on the trilobite are easily seen. The trilobite has great color and contrast and is beautifully perched atop a pillar of matrix. This is an extremely nice, complete specimen of a scarce species of Calymene from the DeRosear Collection (Number 138).
