Here is an unusual trilobite. This is BATHYCHEILUS sp. from the Lower Ordovician of Morocco. This type of trilobite has extremely long genal spines that extend all the way to the pygidium. This prone specimen is nicely inflated and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The fine detail of the specimen is easily seen, and the natural, orange-and-white coloration is just beautiful. The fossil contrasts nicely with the white matrix that also contains beautiful red bryozoans. This is a great specimen of a highly uncommon BATHYCHEILUS from the Ordovician of Morocco.
