This is a very impressive example of a famous US trilobite. It is a HUGE Isotelus gigas from New York State. This specimen was found well over 25 years ago and was recently acquired from a MAJOR fossil collection. Trilobites like this have been sought-after for over a century, since Charles Walcott first found the Trenton Falls fossil locality. This large fossil is EXTREMELY inflated and 3-D and has NO RESTORATION WHATSOEVER. The thick shell exoskeleton is very well preserved - the hair pores are even intact on the cephalon. And at ALMOST SEVEN INCHES LONG, it is larger than almost every Isotelus ever found in Canada! This is a HUGE historical specimen of Isotelus gigas, possibly the most classic of all classic US trilobites.
