This is a striking specimen of Coronocephalus sp. from the Silurian of China. This type of trilobite has a small, pustulose glabella and long cephalic spines. The anterior border of the cephalon is quite crenulated, and the large pygidium has short, thin spines along the pygidial border. This trilobite is hardly ever found with the free cheeks present. The natural, orange-brown coloration of the trilobite is quite striking. And on the back side of the plate is a great example of its rare hypostoma (mouthplate). This is a fine example of Coronocephalina with mouthplate preserved.
