Here is a classic trilobite from the midwestern US. It is a large Sthenarocalymene celebra from the Silurian of Illinois. We recently obtained this specimen from a well-known trilobite collector. The dolomitic preservation of this trilobite is quite unusual. The large trilobite is extremely inflated and wonderfully articulated - even both free cheeks are intact, which is unusual for this type. The unusual, dark color of the fossil is quite striking. This is a fine example of this collectible trilobite from Illinois.
