This is a textbook trilobite trace fossil. It is a very large trilobite nest (Rusophycus pudicum) from the Ordovician of Morocco. This nest was made by a trilobite burrowing into the sea floor bottom. The Rusophycus is very 3-dimensional and well positioned on the natural plate of sandstone. The detail of the burrow area is exceptional - trilobite tracks are preserved in the nest, which is EXTREMELY rare. This is a very detailed and collectible trace fossil - no trilobite collection is complete with out a well preserved nest (Rusophycus).
