This is a beautiful Scutellid trilobite. It is a rare Thysanopeltis sp. from Morocco. This type differs from Thysanopeltis speciosa in that the row of small spines emanating from the border edge of the pygidium alternate long, then short. This bug showcases this feature beautifully. The trilobite is complete and has both free cheeks intact and tightly articulated. The thick shell exoskeleton is incredibly well preserved - even the TINY eye facets are preserved! This specimen is nicely showcased and well centered on the sculpted matrix block. This is a collectible example of this rare, spiny Scutellid trilobite.
