Here is a very good specimen of Dalmanites limulurus from the Silurian of New York. This trilobite is somewhat inflated and wonderfully articulated. The compound eyes protrude above the flat, sleek carapace of the trilobite and display the individual lenses. The short genal spines and the extremely-pointed caudal spine are easily seen. The dark brown trilobite contrasts nicely with the gray matrix. It is well presented on the large (4.2" X 6.2"), naturally oval plate of shale. This is a very affordable example of this "classic" Silurian trilobite from the Rochester Shale.
